Fuel additives are great if you are looking for something to improve your engine’s performance and save some money on fuel. Take some time to learn a bit more about the various gasoline additive options available for you through this post. If you’re looking for ways to get more mileage out of your gas tank, you’ve probably heard about using fuel additives. Additives offer solutions to many fuel related problems such as corrosion, evaporation, and excessive fuel consumption, at least that’s what they promise. But do fuel additives actually work? Do a quick search online, and you’ll find mixed reactions, some people will say they do, and many will say they don’t. Just think, if gasoline additives didn’t work why would manufacturers continue to develop so many different options? The reason many motorists believe they don’t work is that they expect immediate results. It actually takes several fuel tanks before you notice any improvement, but ultimately fuel additives do deliver what they promise. To teach you a little bit more about additives, Huff Oil Group has prepared this post.

You Can’t Get Everything From a Single Additive Mix

Gasoline additives modify the combustion process aiming to reduce emissions and meet the EPA requirements. Additives perform many different jobs such as decreasing the rate in which fuel burns, reducing toxic emissions, preventing corrosion, and cleaning (and preventing) sludge deposits in the fuel system. However, you should know that you won’t find a miracle product that will fix everything all at once. If you do, don’t believe it will actually work. In fact, some additive packages can block other additives' effects; you need to know how to choose and combine them. Think about which qualities are most important to you. Are you looking for a cheap product that works and requires only a small quantity to the job? There’s no such thing, either you go for cheap and probably bad, or you go for pricey but a guaranteed good result. Stay away from all-in-one products; convenience should not come before performance. Look for a product that delivers what they promise such as AMSOIL’s additive line. As a rule, they steer away from all-in-one products. If you’re not sure how to combine your gasoline additives for the best results, you can always ask David Huff from Huff Oil Group when you call him at (910) 988-9328. For instance, if what you’re looking for ways to improve your fuel mileage and reduce your expenses, an AMSOIL Synthetic Oil change combined with the use of a P.i. Fuel Additive Options

To be able to choose the right fuel additive for your needs, you need to know some of the options you have available. Fuel Injector Cleaners: The fuel injectors can easily clog by carbon deposits. You can tell if there’s a blockage if your car takes longer to accelerate, has a frequent cold starts, and poor cold-engine performance. Although there are many additive options to reduce clogging, the cheaper versions will only prevent the blockage, but they won’t remove any deposits that are already there. Gasoline Stabilizers: Since you use your car on a daily basis, you don’t need to worry about gas losing its volatility. However, for seasonal vehicles like boats, motorcycles, lawn mowers, and RVs, gasoline volatility is an issue. Over time the volatile compounds in fuel start to separate and evaporate into the atmosphere. Without enough volatility, fuel burns inefficiently. Gasoline stabilizers are designed to keep the fuel from separating and disappearing into the air while the vehicle is left unused or in storage. Some gas stabilizers such as AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer come with corrosion inhibitors as well. Fuel-Line Antifreeze: Condensation can get anywhere in your vehicle, it’s not strange for it to be found in the gas tank as well.  When it starts to get cold outside that water condensation can turn into ice inside the fuel line. Fuel-line antifreeze has an alcohol-based mix to prevent water from freezing. This additive can also absorb the water and transport it across the engine to be released as vapor through the exhaust. Octane Boosters: Octane boosters increase the octane rating of gasoline. Octane is necessary for your engine’s protection and lubrication. Often octane boosters, come with a valve seat lubricant to reduce engine wear in cars that have cast-iron valve seats like collectible and antique do. Anti-Gelling Additives: These type of additives are used to prevent the solidification of paraffin wax due to freezing temperatures in diesel fuel filters. Most modern diesel trucks or cars come equipped with heated fuel lines and filters to prevent wax from hardening and clogging the lines, but anti-gel additives are still a good idea to prevent cold-starts.
